Below are the poker hand value rankings, all with hand examples, how the hand works in relation to other players and the chances of holding these at the table. Remember these Hand Rankings, and you’re on the first step to obtaining the knowledge and skills to hone your game
Royal Flush
Odds of holding: 650,000 to 1
A Royal Flush is exactly the same principles of a "Straight Flush" yet is the highest ranking poker hand.
To the right is a "Royal Flush" - Because of its rank order nothing can beat this hand.
Straight Flush
Odds of holding: 72,000 to 1
A straight flush is a hand containing five cards of the same suit in rank sequence. In the event of more than one player having a "Straight Flush", the player with the highest card will be the winner. For example 6♣ 7♣ 8♣ 9♣ 10♣ (or higher) would beat the shown Hand.
Four of a Kind
Odds of holding: 4,200 to 1
Four Of A Kind is a hand that contains four cards of the same rank level, with an unrelated card in number rank. For example J♦ J♥ J♣ J♠ 9♦ would beat the shown hand.
Full House
Odds of holding: 700 to 1
A Full House is a hand containing three matching cards of the same rank and a pair of alternative number level. In the event of more than one player having made a "Full House", the winner will be decided by the player holding the highest set of three cards (e.g. 6,6,6). When two players are holding the same "Trips" then the highest pair is compared to find who wins the pot. For example A♠ A♦ A♥ 6♣ 6♦ would beat the shown Hand
Flush
Odds of holding: 510 to 1
A Flush is a hand containing five cards of the same suit. When two or more players have a "Flush", the winner will be decided by the player holding the highest number ranking cards in the "Flush". If the players were to hold the same high card, then the second highest card is compared and so on until a winner is decided. For example 4♥ 6♥ 9♥ J♥ Q♥ (or higher) would beat the shown Hand
Straight
Odds of holding: 250 to 1
A Straight is a hand that contains five cards of successive rank level in a variation of card suits. When two or more players have a "Straight" the winner will be decided by which player is holding the highest card in the straight, if players hold the same high ranking straight then the pot will be "split" and returned. For example 2♠ 3♣ 4♣ 5♦ 6♣ (or higher) would beat the shown hand.
Three of a Kind
Odds of holding: 48 to 1
Three Of A Kind is a hand containing three cards of the same rank level and two unmatched cards, to make the five card hand. The higher ranking three of a kind defeats the lower ranking Three Of A Kind. When two or more players are holding the same set then the kicker cards are used to decide the winner of the hand. e.g. 6♠ 6♦ 6♣ A♠ K♣ would beat the shown Hand.
Two Pair
Odds of holding: 21 to 1
A very straight forward hand, containing one pair of cards of the same rank and another pair of an alternative rank. In the event of two or more players having Two Pairs, the winner of the hand is decided by the player who has the highest ranking pair, if both players have the same high pair then the 2nd pair will be compared for the highest ranking, if both players have the same Two Pair then the kicker determines the winner. e.g. A♠ A♦ K♥ K♦ Q♣ would beat the shown Hand.
One Pair
Odds of holding: 2.4 to 1
A hand in which a player holds two cards of the same rank, also in the hand are three unsuited or ranked cards. In the event that two or more players possess One Pair, the higher ranking pair will win the pot. If the two players have the same pair then the remaining cards in the hand are used to decide the winner "Kicker Cards" or "Kickers". To the right is a pair of Aces - Yet for example A♠ A♦ 9♥ 2♦ Q♣ would beat the shown Hand
High Card
A High Card hand is when a player has no Pair or any set. In the event that two or more players have High Card hands the pot will be decided upon the highest High Card the players hold, if the High Cards the players are holding are the same then the 2nd and 3rd cards etc are compared to decide the eventual winner. For example k♥ Q♣ 2♣ 10♠ A♠ would beat the shown Ace High Hand
